Inspire U - Cooking with Culture

Last Wednesday 8 Cheltenham students attended the first "Inspire U- Cooking

with Culture" session  at Cheltenham Community Centre with

Ruth Parker, where they  learnt the art of cooking Indian cuisine in a

hands on cooking workshop.

The feedback from both students and the facilitator was great. Students

reported it was "a fun, relaxing evening and the food was amazing".

Ruth sent me a message the next morning saying, "What a great bunch of

teenagers. I could have sat with them for another few hours just talking

to them about their personal stories. You would have been very proud of

their leadership and behaviour".

Cheltenham Community Centre will be running further Inspire U sessions

and providing four fully funded spots to Cheltenham Secondary College. Please

see Miss Fisher if you would like to attend the next session.

World Challenge

On the 25th of April, 15 students and 3 teachers set off to the Cathedral Ranges where we would spend three days hiking and bonding in preparation for our trip to India in November. We had some problems initially that day but everything was resolved quickly.  That night we cooked the dinner we had planned with the food we had bought on the way within a certain budget. The next day we had our really big and challenging hike which was super rewarding in the end due to the beautiful scenery. The last day we woke up to rain. We had to pack up the whole campsite and do an hour and a half long hike in the rain and mud.

On the 2nd of May we set out to Daylesford with a world challenge trained leader to really shape up the skills we had learned on the previous camp. The temperatures got to below zero making it hard to get rest for our hike the next day but we all powered through and surprised ourselves with our perseverance. The skills we have learned will help us on our journey to India and will definitely continue to help us after too.
