Acting Principal's Report

Volunteer Morning Tea

On Wednesday the 14th of November we had our annual volunteers’ morning tea. This annual event on our calendar gives us the opportunity to demonstrate our great appreciation to the people who donate their time to support our programs at Concord School. Our programs have been enhanced as a result of the support of our volunteers and we truly are very grateful for all the support.

The Concord School community thanks you all for your contribution in 2018 and we look forward to working with you again next year.

Remembrance Day Commemorations

Concord school has been part of three local events to commemorate the end of the First World War.

Our Student Representative Council attended a service at the Montmorency RSL, this was a major event for the area and organised by the Banyule City Council in conjunction with local RSLs. Many schools attended. Each of our students received a commemoration medal, two Concord students laid a wreath and all students showed a high level of respect for the occasion and conducted themselves exceptionally well.

Two classes attended the service held at Laurimar Primary school with whom we have a close association. Again all our students represented the school with pride and dignity.

Max Sherrin and Jack Dabbous both received scholarships at the service on Sunday 11 Nov at the Watsonia RSL. Well done !

Student Orientation Day- Friday 14th December

The Concord School student orientation day will occur on Friday 14th December. Student will learn their 2019 classes on this day and as far as practicable, the students will move to the classroom they will be in and be taught by the teacher they will have next year.

Families of those students who are either new to the school, or will be changing learning areas, will also be sent this information via mail or email.

Further details in regard to the Student Orientation Day will be provided in coming weeks

School Uniform Reminder

A reminder that even as the school year draws to an end students are still expected to wear the correct uniform.  Secondary students to wear formal or sports uniform on the appropriate day and Primary students to wear their correct uniform . While we are prepared to make some allowances for our departing year 12 students all others are required to follow the school guidelines.

One area that is frequently overlooked is the requirement to wear all black shoes with formal uniform.

Should you have any difficulties with purchase of uniform, please contact Deb Whiteway in the main office. This is a reminder to all families of students moving into year 7 next year, please attend the uniform shop to purchase a new uniform. The uniform shop will be open extra hours for the remainder of the year, for your convenience. Opening hours will be Tuesday 9:15 am-1:15 pm and Thursday 10:30 am -2:30 pm.

Walkathon

Our Bundoora Campus walkathon was held on Monday 5th of November and all students participated enthusiastically. As well as being a healthy and energetic activity, this is one of the few events where the whole school can come together and is enjoyed by staff and students alike.

Celebrating Student Success- Achievements in the Community

In addition to celebrating our students achievements within school time we would also like to celebrate and highlight our students successes and achievements within the wider community through our newsletter.

We would love to hear how our students are empowering themselves for the future within the community. If you would like to share  your child’s proud achievements whether it be through  volunteering, sporting highlights, leadership opportunities or positive community relationships please contact me and we can share this in our upcoming newsletters.
