4 Netball Trophies in One Week!
A big congratulations to all of our netball teams.
Following on from the success of our Year 8 and 9 Netball B team who successfully defended their premiership, we also had success with three other netball teams.
Senior Central Netball Premiership
Well done to Central Senior Netball team who won the EISM Premiership for the second year in a row. Kilvington won the seesawing match 39-33 against a tenacious Bialik. Well done coach, Matt Brinson, and players Bridie English, Emma Hedger, Izzy Clarke, Ally Doyle, Lexie Opray, Olivia Mackie, Izzy Cook and Erin Jones. Special mention to opposition chosen MVP (most valuable player) Sarah Hedger who only missed one goal for the entire match!
Year 8 and 9 Southern Netball
It was a fantastic display by this team over the entire season. The Grand Final was a dominant display with a convincing result 48-20. Congratulations to Laura Bailey, Jade Craddock, Steph Darvell, Stacey Flaounas, Millie Hogg, Emma Lamb, Georgia Morris, Kasey O’Connor, Paige Pfeiffer and Angelina Vadolas. A big thank you to our coach Anna Kasapis who passed on her excellent knowledge to the girls.
Year 8 and 9 Central Netball
And finally, this team has been outstanding for three years. Just like the mighty Hawks, they have gone back to back to back. #Threepeat. Massive effort throughout the two terms and finished over the top of a gallant Bialik, 48-40. Successful medalists include; Annika Challice, Lucy George, Bridie Linehan, Liv O'Connor, Isabelle Owen, Annaliese Redlich, Kara Williamson and MVP Millie Smith. An excited coach, Kylie Burns, must be congratulated for her work with this team and all the success in netball she has enjoyed at Kilvington.
Lastly, I would also like to thank the mighty supporters who came along to three of the finals. Their cheering and passion really lifted the players and demonstrated the one and only Kilvington Spirit. The Principal from Bialik rang me to say how fantastic you all were and said that you are a credit to our School.
Box Hill Indoor Soccer
Well done to six indoor soccer teams who have been going along to Box Hill Indoor Sports for Terms 2 and 3 to play in an EISM Indoor Soccer tournament on Wednesdays (Seniors) and Thursdays (Year 8s and 9s). Great to see these students having fun and showing great teamwork and sportsmanship.
One of the Thursday teams made the final and performed well in the decider. They came away with Runner Up medallions. A fine result. Thanks to Kylie Burns, Alan Clarke, Corey Marshall (former student), Rajnesh Ram and Katie Forti (former student) who staffed this tournament.
Balaclava Athletics
Well done to all of the 43 students who represented Kilvington at the annual Balaclava District Athletics at Sandringham Athletics Track on 23 August. It was a great experience for these children, many of whom experienced their first ever competitive athletics meet.
Although Kilvington didn’t place in the top three for the aggregate trophy, there were many great performances. Special congratulations to Hunter Lee (long jump) and Sophie Xu (triple jump) who progressed to Beachside Division (see next article).
Beachside Division Athletics
Well done to Hunter Lee and Sophie Xu who both represented the Balaclava District in the Beachside Division Athletics event on Tuesday. Hunter made the final of the 11-year-old-boys Long Jump and Sophie made the final in the 12-year-old-girls Triple Jump.
New Beep Test School Record
Congratulations to Olivia and Jack Kirkham who are the School's new Beep Test Challenge champions, both setting a new School record in the process! Jack achieved level 14.5 and Olivia managed 12.1. There must be something in that Kirkham gene pool!
