Footy Colours Day

“Fight Cancer Foundation's Footy Colours Day is a national fundraising campaign held during the month of September to support kids living with cancer. Schools, workplaces, groups and clubs across Australia are encouraged to wear their favourite footy team's colours and host an event to raise much-needed funds.”

Concord School’s Footy Colours Day was held on the last day of Term 3. The day was a big success with students showing great enthusiasm for their AFL, Soccer, and Rugby teams. The Grand Parade in the gym was the first main event followed by a staff verses students footy game on Loyola Reserve. Thank you to Victoria Police, Greensborough Station who joined in the action and fun.

Prize vouchers were awarded for best dressed, commitment and fair play.

The $287.45 raised goes to Fight Cancer Foundation's education support programs. These programs support children’s learning while they undergo cancer treatment.

    • Works continue and thank you for your patience with the noise during the process.

New Business:

Billy K, PMJ, Jacob C (Upper Primary)

  • The tap near the Discovery centre is not working. Colin said that he will organise that to be fixed
  • Students would like there to be craft activities available in the Upper Primary courtyard during break times for students who do not like running around. Colin said that this is an amazing idea and this will be considered by the Team Leader
  • Students are still waiting for the hammock to be fixed. Colin will follow up on the delay
  • Students would like a climbing course and a rock climbing wall. Colin said that due to the Building works project this cannot be considered.
  • A suggestion for an ‘Olden Day’s Dress Up’ was made. Colin said that was a very interesting idea and that this idea can be considered by the Team Leader
  • Students have suggested a rewards shop called ‘Gotcha Shop’ be set up for rewards for following school rules. Colin said we already an award program at school involving Success passes. Students to ask Team Leader about using this program in Upper Primary.

Sierra, Roger, Jack, Max, Chris (Sec 7/8)

  • Students would like to have video games available just like the Sec 11/12 students. Colin said this can be taken to the Team Leader
  •  Students would like 2 camps per year. Colin said nice idea but the camping schedule only allows for 1 camp per year
  • Students would like to acknowledge the wonderful day that was ‘Footy Day’. The dress up, music and games were amazing. Thank you to everyone for the day. Money raised was $287.45
  •  Students would like new nets on the Basketball rings. Colin D will follow up
  •  Students have suggested a colouring competition once per month. Team Leader to address

  •  Students would like bean bags or a couch in classrooms to assist with managing their emotions in particular if an incident has occurred at lunch or recess time. Colin said fantastic idea ask the teacher to request this through Team Leaders.
  • Students would like a barrier or net to help with basketball going onto the roof too easily. Colin said let’s think of some ideas for next meeting as to how that could be done.
  • Students would like a’ chill out, calming table and chairs ‘in the Sec 7/8m section. Colin said that this is a wonderful idea and he and Hillary field are working on a project for a ‘Friendship Bench’ at the moment. More information to follow at next meeting
  • Students would like an animal area with rabbits and chickens. Colin said due to the Building works this cannot be considered at this stage.

Gaga Court Relocation- Tour

The SRC toured the school to consider the future relocation of the Gaga court. Four areas were suggested:

  1. The area just next to the Sec 11/12 building near where the previous court was
  2. Near the playground, Holden fence line where the activity equipment and green shed is.
  3. The very front of the school. Students highlighted the fact that the ball could go over Holden fence and Grimshaw Street. There was also a lot of traffic noise and supervision may be a problem.
  4. The area outside the Performing Arts room. Students thought this area was not big enough

Photos of the suggested locations are attached. Considerations will be made and further discussion will take place at our next meeting.

Next Meetings:  Thank you to everyone. See you next meeting. Meetings for 2019 will be at 2:15 pm as follows: Tuesday 12th November, Tuesday 3rd December
