Acting Principal's Report

Welcome Back
Welcome back to term 4 and one of the busiest terms I can remember at Concord. Building works have commenced and we are all managing really well with the disruptions that such things can bring. Our students have returned to school in great spirits and as always are really demonstrating our school expectations. This term also brings our school review and I can’t wait to get into the nitty gritty of developing our strategic plan for the next four years.
Footy Colours Day
Friday the 20th of September was our footy colours day. Of all the days we have at Concord throughout the year this is by far my favourite. All the kids know how much of a footy head I am and the conversations are always great fun on days like this. I would like to thank the Victoria Police officers who volunteered their time and participated in the staff/police verses students game of footy. There was great banter and joy throughout the game and I personally realised pretty quickly that I might need to improve my fitness levels before next years game.
2020 Plans
It is already that time of year again when we are asking you to confirm for the school what your plans for 2020 are. If for any reason you plan to enrol your child in a different school next year then we ask that you inform the school of this proposed movement. We are in the midst of preparing class lists for 2020 and it is important for us to know how many students will be in sections to ensure suitable class sizes. We really appreciate your cooperation.
Class Preparations 2020
At Concord we are continually trying to improve our practices and ensure that our students are given every chance to succeed and one of the areas we have been working on is our student voice and agency. As a result we have decided to give our students some input into the composition of their classes in 2020. All students on the Bundoora Campus will be given a learning friend request form. On this form students will be asked to write/dictate the names of 5 learning friends and we guarantee that all students will be in a class with at least 1 of their requested friends. We will support students to understand the features of a learning friend and ask that you might reinforce this at home. A learning friend is someone who doesn’t distract you from your learning, someone who works well with you, who is friendly and demonstrates our school expectations of be a learner, be responsible, be respectful and be safe.
Principal Award- Mohammad Hasanpour
What a spectacular Semester for Mohammad! He has worked exceptionally hard, particularly in literacy and maths. Over the course of the year Mohammad has worked solidly to learn how to read and write a range Oxford words and letter-sounds. He applies this knowledge during Writer’s Workshop and has become an eager writer. In maths he has shown great initiative in learning to add, and can now apply this to different maths problems and challenges. Most importantly, he has come on in leaps and bounds with his ability to take on and persevere with new tasks.
We are very proud of Mohammad’s progress thus far- amazing work Mohammad!
