Extend After School Care at Kilvington Grammar School

Our Recap

The previous couple of weeks have been full of a variety of fun activities! The weather has finally turned against us so we spent many a day inside trying to keep warm. The main craft activities that we have all enjoyed have been mainly student-led which is fantastic to see.

The children enjoyed making clay animals, monsters and really anything they could think of. They were very impressive! Mother’s Day cards and suncatchers were some other highlights. The scavenger hunt inside was also a great success!

With our chefs hats on we made some delicious fruit smoothies. This was a surprise success with every single child present that day enjoying making their own with many blending all the fruits that were on offer that day together. Chocolate and Coconut balls and Milo biscuits were also big hits with the children.

When we did get to go outside there were so many student-led activities being played that we were usually outside until it became dark. Some of the great activities that the children have initiated include ‘Capture the Flag’, practicing our hand eye co-ordination with some juggling and high catches, gymnastics on the monkey bars and there was a great afternoon playing lots of games with balloons. The footy has been featured heavily as well as 4 square.

Finally, after a couple of weeks away it was great to come back and see all the children’s smiling faces and to hear about all the adventures they had been on. However, the highlight of my return was coming back to see the wonderful inclusive and caring spirit that all the children are displaying toward each other. Every afternoon I see the older children including younger ones in their games, friends looking out for each if they get hurt and just a great sense of community among everyone! Fantastic job by all the kids!
