Assistant Principal News

Dear Parents,

As our term draws to a close I wish to thank both Staff and Students for their dedicated and determined approach to learning this Semester. Our community has had so many opportunities this term to embrace new experiences, either in the field of learning, faith and care and our students and staff have once again demonstrated their willingness to live the College ethos of ‘The Way, the Truth, the Life’.

This week we hosted our Year 11 and 12  award ceremonies to celebrate the academic achievements of our students. We were so pleased to be able to join together as year groups to acknowledge their hard work and dedication. It is unfortunate that we were unable to have parents present, however due to our ongoing renovations we are unable to host large events in our hall. We look forward to being able to join together again soon to celebrate such milestones.

I wish to congratulate all the award winners and encourage them to continue this application throughout 2022. To those that didn’t receive awards, your challenge is to start afresh next semester with some fresh learning goals and social goals and commit to meeting those. I challenge you to be the best possible person and student that you can, taking part in the ‘Marian Way’.

This week we were also visited by our School Police Liaison Officer Senior Constable Alex Davies.  He works closely with all schools in the area to ensure that schools are safe places that can focus on educational outcomes and ensure that all students feel safe.

Senior Constable Davies will be returning early next term to speak to all students about the legalities and expectations of educational institutions in ensuring all students are safe and free to develop socially and academically. He informs all students about the legislation in place around behaviour in schools and the laws that exist to protect them. It is important to remember that students are accountable for their actions from the age of ten and that above the age of fourteen they are treated as adults. Students can be fined $500 for using offensive language on a school site that was used to intimidate, threaten or harass.

Alex also spoke about the seriousness of fighting on site and the possible outcomes that are in place to ensure that students are safe at school, this is also the case with social media use.

As a college we are very proud of our safe and inclusive environment. We ask that you continue to communicate with us if you or your child has any concerns.

Yours in Learning,
