Art - NAIDOC Week

On Wednesday the 13th of July our students came together for a special assembly to celebrate the learning undertaken in classrooms for NAIDOC Week. Representatives from each unit spoke to our student body about a range of different topics. Our school Koorie Engagement Support Officer (KESO) Jess Egan, worked with our Koorie 5/6 students to present interviews to us all which were really interesting, informative and entertaining. We ended our assembly with a presentation from our Grade 1/2 students performing The Wiggles song Taba Nava, sung in Meriam Mir a language of the Torres Staight Islanders.

Sandhurst Division Netball

Well done to all of the students who represented the school at the Sandhurst Division Netball tournament yesterday. The standard of competition was very high and our teams are to be congratulated for the quality of netball they played throughout the day.

Our Grade 6 Girls team had a particularly successful day, winning 5 out of 7 games in the very strong Girls competition. They displayed great skill, teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the day. I would sincerely like to thank Kate Hardinge for coaching the girls on the day.

Our Grade 5/6 Boys team also had a great day. For many of the boys, this was their first time playing competitive netball and they learnt a lot as the day went on. Well done! I would like to thank Mr Lidgett and Gen Rodda for supporting this team.

Athletics

Age Champions who were absent and did not receive their medallions at the end of last term will be presented with them at Assembly tomorrow afternoon.

A reminder that the District Athletics has been rescheduled to Tuesday the 9th of August.
