Library In-fill Update:

Since the commencement of Term 2 we have been steadily integrating our new facilities into use. At present we have seen the library come back online, with great views over the water and a large open plan space which has fast become a popular place during recess and lunch. Along with our Heads of House working out of their new offices with ample meeting rooms to work with our boys.

Level 2 is our Student Support Hub. Boys will have access to the student support team in the form of Students Support Team

Mrs Jo Morgan

Mrs Lucinda Gear

Ms Kelsey Odgers

Mrs Jacinta Waddington

Mr Dalton – Careers Counseling

and our Learning Enrichment Centre

With rooms 30, 29, 28 to be the next stage of building works, these classrooms have been reallocated to Level 1 this week. New rooms 33 and 32 have been well received by the transitioning classes. Consisting of bright open spaces and a peaceful outlook to our college grounds.

Working through Challenges

As a College we want to make it very clear the support we can offer our young men in challenging and difficult times. For this to occur boys need to be forthcoming and I commend those young men who have the courage to ask for help or assistance in times of need. We can always do more to help each other and within peer groups especially boys have the ability and opportunity to know when their mates aren’t 100% and the words we use can alleviate or worsen the issue at hand. What we must always be conscious of is how our interactions with those around us make them feel. As we work with our young men, we encourage them to take note of these sentiments.

“People will forget what you said and did, but they will never forget how you made them feel.” Maya Angelou

Assessments and Year 10 Exams

As the term is fast getting away from us it is timely that we are constantly reminding and encouraging boys to work towards set deadlines and due dates. Tasks which are planned, have been genuinely thought through, edited and proofed and have had time and consideration spent will no doubt achieve positive results. I always encourage dialogue with teachers to clarify questions and to map out a way forward.

Regarding Year 10 exams, parents have been communicated with in terms of transport arrangements. Students will complete each exam in the morning and return directly home.

Bus services will be provided and will depart Austin’s Ferry at 11:30 am each morning.

The work within the classroom at present leading up to the exam period is one to take advantage of. Asking questions, reviewing class work and assessment and focusing on those areas which you know will challenge you.
