EDUCATION IN FAITH
Sacrament of First Eucharist
On Saturday, the 4th of June, Saint Joseph's celebrated the Sacrament of
First Eucharist. The Church was awash with smiling faces and family support for our children. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Father Shabin for his guidance and leadership and for all of the hard work that the teachers: Miss Angela, Miss Lauren and Miss Tess did in preparing the children for this special day.
We congratulate the following students:
Damian NAKIC, Samantha KEOGH, Gabriel CAPUTO, Joey CASAMENTO, Zachary WRIGHT, Freya HAMILTON, Julian ZAMMIT and Bridget WHYTE.
Freya: My first communion was great. At first I was very nervous but then I got up and I loved it! It was really fun because I got to do a reading in front of the whole mass.
Joey: My first communion was very good because I got to taste the bread and it tasted good. I got to see all my friends in nice tuxedos.
Samantha: My first communion was really fun because I got to do it with all of my friends from school. We also celebrated with my family. I learnt that the bread nourishes the soul because it is Jesus’ body.
A special message from our SRC and students at Saint Joseph's
Mass of the Sacred Heart:
On Thursday, 23rd of June we are celebrating the Feast of The Sacred Heart Mass. Our Student Representative Council have been running an initiative to collect donations for the Saint Vincent De Paul Society and the Merri Outreach Support Service.
In these times many people in our community are suffering. We the children of Saint Joseph’s School intend to make a difference. Our Student Representative Council members will join in the procession at the beginning of Mass carrying baskets of food, toiletries and blankets that have been collected over the past few weeks. These donations will be distributed through the Saint Vincent DePaul Society and the Merri Outreach Support Service. These donations will, in a small way, assist our local community. We understand that this is an act of Social Justice and that it is our responsibility to try and make a difference where we can in our world.
If you are free and would like to join us Mass is at 9.15am, ALL WELCOME.
Religious Education at Saint Joseph’s
We are a Catholic School that models Religious Education lessons around the teachings of the Gospel where we are all encouraged to be the best person that we can be. We promote curiosity and wonder when exploring themes of Social Justice and we approach this learning using an Inquiry method based on the Pedagogy of Encounter. We explore other religions in the context of the Christian faith and encourage tolerance and acceptance of all people and all religious denominations.
