Swimming - Junior School

Junior School Swimming Program Information
We are pleased to confirm that the Junior Swimming Program will commence next term at the Leisure Link Aquatic & Recreation Centre in Waurn Ponds. The 5 sessions will be conducted from Monday July 18th to Friday July 22nd. The Victorian Government has contributed funding through the Swimming in Schools Program to ensure students can participate in swimming. As a result, we anticipate there will be no cost to families for swimming in 2022.
As the lessons begin in the second week of next term, it is a good time now to make sure your child is prepared and has everything they need to make this a positive and enjoyable experience.
Swimming Essentials:
All swimmers will need to bring the following clearly named items:
- Swimming bag
- Towel
- Goggles
- Drink bottle
- Spare underwear
- Plastic bag (for their wet items)
- Pair of thongs
- Swimming caps are optional for students.
These items are required for each day of our swimming program. Students will need to change into a pair of thongs before they get to swimming and will change back into runners when they return to school. As the pool encourages the children to wear their bathers to the pool to enable a prompt lesson start, we would require that the children arrive at school wearing their bathers underneath their uniforms (pants or shorts, no tights please) and they will be able to change at the pool ready to swim straight away. If students need to change into their swimmers at the pool they may miss out on lesson times.
This is a fantastic time for students to learn valuable life skills and independence. We strongly recommend they practise at home to dry and change themselves so they are ready and confident when the program begins.
Families will receive an email by the end of this week with further information. Please provide electronic permission via Sentral when you receive this by Thursday 23rd of June as we need to give final numbers to the pool before we break for school holidays.
Should you have any questions, please contact your child's teacher.
