Moonlit Sanctuary
On Tuesday the 19th of July the Preps went on their first excursion to Moonlit Sanctuary! They got to feed wallabies, touch a lizard and a snake, and we learnt that koalas sleep for 20 hours a day!
This excursion was the beginning of the Prep's Project Based Learning (PBL) for Term 3. We will be learning about what living things are, what they need, and how we can help to care for all of God's creation.
They all had a great time exploring nature and even the sun was shining for their first excursion.

Year 6 Flora and Fauna Excursion
On July 21st our Year 6 students ventured off to the city to visit the Aquarium, Royal Botanical Gardens, and a Beach Conservation Volunteers program at St. Kilda beach. We were challenged and empowered to take action to look after our environment by participating in a beach clean-up survey.
The weather was spectacular as we scoured the sands of St Kilda to find the ‘hidden’ and not so hidden rubbish that enters our waterways and harms marine ecosystems.
We learned about ‘bush medicine’ and our First Nations' connection to our country through sustainable practices at the Botanical Gardens. We were shown how the common banksia bush was a ‘supermarket’ for First Nations people as it provided nectar for their tea, kindling for their fires, and wood for transporting grains and food.
At the Aquarium, we certainly enjoyed looking at all of the amazing sea life, with a particular favourite being the tunnels that allowed us glimpses of life under the sea, and the very cute penguins.
A fabulous day was had by all!
We are looking forward to the next excursion!
