Hi everyone – I hope you are well.

Mike Martin and I visited Denmark on 17th May. Together with Bev McGuiness -Denmark Historical Society – we had a meeting with the college principal to plan for the 80th anniversary reunion to be held on open day, 27th August 2022.  The meeting was very positive. A further meeting to finalise arrangements will be held on 30th June.

We, together with Wendy Sutton, had a meeting with the high school principal – Kath Ward – to discuss the maintenance of the gazebo on the premises.

While in Denmark, Mike and I visited historical sites such as the rock and plaque on Scotsdale Road where the workshops used to be.  Also the research station area, now a park, where the buildings used to be. Looking into the artwork you can see an image of the outline of the buildings and roadway. The bridge over the river is still there though somewhat different in size. Well worth a visit next time you’re in the area.

On our way back home, we called into Manjimup and visited Yvonne, Peter DeMunck’s daughter, and also Murray and Jackie Edwards.

Darryl Witham and Jenny visited us recently and lent a copy of his book entitled “The Grange, Lake Biddy” for me to read. It’s about his family history of farming from the early days to Darryl, Margaret and family. Hard times for sure and very interesting reading. Darryl also provided this photo of a past reunion of the 1954-1955 students and wives at Pemberton in the 1990’s.

Barry King and partner, Rita, visited Ray and Helen Giblett in Broken Hill on their way to Queensland. They went out for a meal together and sent this photo.

Trevor McDonald’s partner, Barbara, sent a photo of the plaque the family has placed in memory of him at the site he was last seen. There has been no trace of him or his belongings since his disappearance near Meekatharra. Our hearts and feelings are extended to her as it will be a year in August with no closure.

Remember to put the 80th anniversary reunion in your calendar – 27th August. Come along and be part of the celebration and college farm activities along with the unveiling of a commemorative plaque.  The college will also be advertising the event widely.
