AFL Trip

Dane Carter, Doug Thompson and I took 22 students to Perth to watch the Dockers beat Hawthorn in a nail biting game. A quick, but enjoyable, trip over the weekend of 11-12th of June and I am pleased that our Day Students were able to attend. The camp also included a visit to the Nostalgia Box, a retro video gaming arcade, along with a bit of retail therapy at Carousel Shopping Centre. I thank Dane and Kelli for organising this camp and I anticipate another AFL trip next term.

Work Experience

Last Week of Term 2

As mentioned in the previous newsletter, the Year 12 Trades and Ag Studies students have been provided the opportunity to complete a one week block of Work Experience during the last week of this term. I would like to acknowledge the continual hard work of Courtenay Lockyer, School Officer for her dedication in processing the paperwork and liaising with parents and employers. I would also like to recognise our staff who are volunteering their time to travel and visit our students at their work placements.

Term 3, Week 7

All Year 11 and 12 College students must be involved in either Country Week or Work Experience in this week of Term 3.  For Year 10 students it is either Country Week or a modified learning program at the College.  It is important parents/guardians realise that if students are not involved in any of these activities they will be marked absent from school for the week with an unacceptable reason.

Year 10 students remaining at the College in Week 10 will have the opportunity to be involved in the training and assessment of a number of competencies from the agricultural training package. They will continue to participate in optional courses including Equine, Metals and Engineering and Automotive.

Semester 1 Reports

This is a busy time of the term for teachers and instructional staff finalising assessments and student reports. Semester 1 Reports will be emailed and uploaded to Connect. The first round of OLNA results will be included in the report. Students who have not passed the OLNA in Literacy and/or Numeracy will have a second chance in September. For our Year 12 students this is the last school-based report they will receive and may be highly influential in gaining employment or further training next year.

Long Service Leave (LSL)

As of next term, I will be accessing my LSL for the remainder of this year and into Term 1, 2023. I am looking forward to the break, enabling me to spend quality time with family and friends and explore more of this beautiful country. I warmly welcome Alf Mungioli to the College and I have great confidence he will ease into the role as Deputy Principal and offer a wealth of VET knowledge and leadership.  I wish our Year 12 students all the best with the final stage of schooling and transitioning into the real world of work and further study/training.
