Principal's News

Mr Rodrigues

Dear Families,

Once again, at the beginning of the term, I was welcomed at the Kent Street gate by a team of smiling faces eager to return to school. It was a wonderful feeling knowing that for so many of our children, Trinity is a great place to be, which gives them an opportunity to be with friends in a place where they can feel safe and have a real sense of belonging. With a number of new students and staff joining our community this term I am lucky that I can feel so confident that all these people will be welcomed and quickly become a part of our school family. Over the next few weeks I will introduce each of our new staff members in our newsletter with a brief profile and photo.

Many thanks to all those who were able to join us for our first Monday morning gathering where we welcomed back all our children and spoke about the many exciting things planned for Term 3. Of course, as we know, the big highlight will be our school concert to be held on Wednesday 31st August. There will be much more information shared as the term progresses. This term will also see us celebrate Book Week, St Ignatius Feast day. First Eucharist and Father's Day just to name a few. On Monday we also presented our new class leaders with their badges and introduced each of them to the school community.  We look forward to helping these students develop important leadership skills and qualities throughout Semester Two.

We once again hope to provide opportunities for parents to have their say and input into important school matters, either through our formal parent talking circles or more informal coffee and a chat opportunities that we would like to plan this term.

With the entire staff, I am looking forward to a wonderful Term 3, continuing to build the relationship between home and school, providing excellent learning opportunities for each of our children and further exploring ways that we can ensure our school continues to be the best place for our children to learn.

Prayer:

Blessed are you, Lord God, Creator of body and mind and heart, you have sent the Spirit of wisdom and knowledge to guide your people in all their ways.
At the beginning of this new school term we ask your mercy: bless the students, teachers, and staff of Trinity Primary School, that together we may grow in faith, hope, and love, as we learn from you and each other how to follow your Son Jesus. Expand the horizons of our minds, that we may grow in wisdom, understanding, and knowledge.
Deepen our commitment to seek the truth of your ways; and enliven our faith to reach out to those in need. Glory and praise to you, Lord God, in the Church and in Christ Jesus forever and ever.
Amen

First Eucharist

As a faith community let us pray for the following students who are preparing to receive the Sacrament of First Eucharist.

We will celebrate with them on Sunday 31st July at St Ignatius Church at 9.30am

Introducing Ms Maddie Brown

We welcome Ms Madison Brown who has joined us and will be teaching Year 1/2. Maddie is an experienced teacher having worked for several years at St Joseph's in Sorrento teaching Preps and Year One and Two students. Maddie has recently moved to Richmond from the Mornington Peninsula where she grew up and is very excited to be joining us at Trinity. She is also looking forward to exploring the wonderfful restaurants we have in our local area.

Trinity Voices: School Singing Group

Yesterday one of our parents, Bernadette Matthias held the first of our 'come and try' sessions for Trinity Voices, our new singing group,  which proved to be almost too successful with such a great turn out showing the incredible enthusiasm of our children. We look forward to developing the voices of those children who choose to commit to the group over the next few weeks in the hope that we will be able to perform at our school masses and a number of locations towards the end of the year.

Student Learning

The great work done by class teachers in Semester One really showed this week in how quickly our children settled into their learning routines.  When visiting classes, it was clear that the positive learning behaviours our children have established meant focussed and calm learning was well and truly taking place. A family who had booked in for a school tour commented on how impressed they were by what they saw in each of the classrooms we visited.  Thanks to all our parents for preparing your children for their return to school.

Play Group

A reminder that each Wednesday from 9:30am Mrs Foley will be running our Trinity Play Group. We have been seeing the numbers of attendees growing which shows the great word of mouth recommendations we are getting through the community.

Kinder Visits

On Thursday 21st July and Thursday 28th July several of our staff will be attending information evenings at both Guardian Kinder Abbotsford and the East Melbourne Early Learning Centre. Joining the staff will be some of our Year 6 student leaders to help promote Trinity as a first choice school in our local area. These opportunities are part of our ongoing marketing and promotional initiatives to help spread the word about our amazing school.
