Digital Technologies

Digital Technologies provides students with practical opportunities to use design thinking and to be innovative developers of digital solutions.  It gives students authentic learning challenges that foster curiosity, confidence, innovation, creativity and cooperation. At Mazenod College, we help students to develop design and computational thinking skills, and to become safe, respectful, creative and innovative learners. Below are junior students’ reflections from different Digital Technologies subjects.

Year 7 IT:  Microbit

Digital Technologies was one of my favourite subjects this term. My favourite activity that we did definitely had to be the Microbit activities, as well as building up the website.

I enjoyed making websites a lot especially while using the Microbit.

Engaging and hands-on learning experience. Enjoyable and fun lessons, well-planned and thought-out structures and topics.

It was very fun and engaging. It was never a boring subject.

It was a good unit on Digital Tech it was a fun time learning things about the internet and the future we have.

I enjoyed this subject because I got to learn about things I've never known before like networks and data packets. Digital Technologies was really fun!

It was very interesting, and I have always liked technology. I will definitely do Digital Technologies in Year 9. One of the best subjects at Mazenod.

I really love digital technology, it's so sad that I won't be doing it anymore. :(

Year 9 IT:  STEM Robotics

I really had fun in robotics and spending time with my friends and playing with Lego for the whole class.

Robotics was a fun and friendly elective where we were able to code and construct solar cars and miniature robots. Minimal homework and it was always an enjoyable class to be a part of, I would definitely recommend.

Year 9 IT: Software Development “Games”

Hi, my name is Winston Zou and I just wanted to tell everyone reading this about my experience with Year 9 Software Development this year. Throughout this journey, I have had lots of fun and I also have learnt many new things, such as being able to code games with Scratch, how coding works and I have also made many new friends. Overall, my journey through Year 9 Software Development had been a great and exhilarating journey and I recommend everyone to try it out!
