PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Dear Parent and Guardians,

How is learning from home going at your house?

At mine the timetable is flexible:

One starts at 7am, the others at 9am, one is done by 9.30 another not until 3pm because of what appears to be endless breaks.

The approach to work is organic:

Mr C - Yr 8 - you don't need to know Mum! I've got this (as long as this is the minimum, basic and quick)

Mr B - Yr 6 - I don't know how/what/if!!! NO I can't ask the teacher, they want me to work it out, I miss them (emotional child - needs relationships and remote learning via Google classroom rather overwhelming)

Ms L - Yr 4 - up, organised, task driven and rarely bothered. But when not sure or frustrated the volcano erupts.

The work product is varied and I'd love to be taking a bigger role in insisting of better output but that is not my job. I just get them submitting work to the teachers for feedback. If I have a concern I'm emailing the teachers but ensuring that the child knows I've got their back and that the teacher knows the SAME thing. We are in this together - without the teachers I'd be trying to work and develop a curriculum program to suit my kids.  Without my kids and the work they submit the teachers would be struggling to know if their planning was effective.

This is a new experience for us all. We will be learning so much during this time. Some of our learning will be about the personality traits of our children and the habits of behaviour that will either make school easy or challenging for them.

Most important though is to remain calm, find things to enjoy doing together and give yourself a break! If you don't get it all done - that's OK, if you head off on a tangent and find some great learning on a side topic - great!

Wishing you a great week working with your children. We are enjoying it too.

Kind regards

Kate

SCHOOL FEES UPDATE

We are asking at this time not to pay  fees in full until further notice.  There will be a few changes to the levies that were initially billed to your family.  Those being:

CAMP, SPORTS AND EXCURSION LEVY: Charges associated with cancelled camps and other specific activities, where alternates will not be offered, will be removed and are not payable.  We are waiting on instructions from DOSCEL and will inform you when this will take place and amended accounts will be sent out.

CSEF PAYMENTS:  We are waiting on DOSCEL for instructions on allocation/non allocation of the CSEF payment for 2020 and will let you know when we have further information regarding your payment/s.

Families who have paid accounts in full will receive a credit or reimbursement off the CSE student levy/ies.  We will advise you when this will happen and you can let us know which type of your credit you would prefer.

Families with a direct debit set up with us who would like to suspend the payments for the time being, please contact the office asap and we will arrange that.

If you find your family in a difficult financial situation at this time, please contact Kate Dourley on kdourley@stlleongatha.catholic.edu.au  as soon as possible.

CHANGE OF ADDRESS OR PHONE NUMBER

If you have moved houses and have not updated your address with the school, please do so at your earliest convenience.  We have had several families who did not receive their Week 1 packs in the mail due to wrong addresses on our system.  It is important for the school to keep accurate student and family information.  This includes a change in family circumstances.

ANZAC DAY PRAYER

God of love and liberty, we bring our thanks this day for the peace and security we enjoy, which was won for us through the courage and devotion of those who gave their lives in time of war. We pray that their labour and sacrifice may not be in vain, but that their spirit may live on in us and in generations to come. AMEN
