5/6 Advertising Incursion

On the 30th May, Prem’s mum Roshni came in to talk to the 5/6s about advertising. The 5/6s have been looking at advertising so she helped us to understand some the strategies used to advertise. The incursion was very interesting and I was surprised by how much I learnt about advertising. It was very scientific and I loved all of the ads she showed us.   My favourite ad was the Coca Cola ad because it showed us what they catch on security cameras and that there is more good in the world than bad. Roshni is strategy director, she creates ideas for ads, billboards and other things. The 5/6s did an activity where we had to create advertising for the school musical, Seussical Jr. It was very fun and we came up with lots of ideas. - Nicole 5/6

 

On the 30th of May, we had Roshni (Prem and Aavi’s mum) come in to tell us a bit about advertising. She works for McCann worldwide services as a strategy director. One thing I learnt from Roshni is that is important to include emotions in T.V. adverts. My favourite part about the presentation was seeing the different ads and exploring the different elements and techniques used. I think the best thing about working in advertising would be creating the ads. My favourite ad campaign Roshni had worked on was the Coke ads. - Tom 5/6

 

On Thursday Prem’s mum, Roshni came into the 5/6 classroom to teach us about all the different roles that are available in the advertising industry. Roshni showed us some of the campaigns she had worked on. My favourite was the ad for Coke. In the ad, it featured the good things that have been caught on security camera instead of looking at the bad. One thing I learnt from Roshni was that an ad doesn't make you buy something but it can convince you that you should. - Mia 5/6

 

Last Thursday, Roshni (Prem’s Mum) came into the 5/6 classroom to talk about our advertising unit of inquiry. Roshni works for McCann as a Strategy Director and has done lots of ads for many different companies.  One thing I learnt was that there are so many different ways and things to advertise. Something I was surprised by was how Coke used a lot of things that have nothing to do with the drink to make an ad. I think the most interesting part of the presentation was when Roshni showed us an ad for the World Hunger Foundation who were selling seats at a fancy restaurants and would give all the money to the World Hunger Foundation. After the presentation, I wondered what all the different companies use to advertise because it is not all TV ads. My favourite aspect of the presentation was when Roshni showed us all different ads and what companies used to advertise.
