Latest news from the 3/4 Classrooms

This Term has been an exciting one filled with great learning experiences for the Grade 3/4 students.

Here is a little snapshot of their experiences:

As active Eco Warriors, the students have been on a range of local excursions which has allowed them to gain a deeper understanding of our waterways and indigenous plants, and the impacts of these on our native wildlife. Most recently, the students learnt the role that worms play in the composting cycle, and have been charged with the responsibility of maintaining this system in our school garden.

We are well underway with our ‘Seussical Jr’ performance. The students are currently attending weekly rehearsal sessions in order to fine tune their angelic voices and master the dance routines. Our song is firmly stuck in our heads and we have no doubt that the students are singing it around the house spontaneously like us.

Our Inquiry unit is also proving a hit. We have had a focus on design and have linked this to our Eco Warrior sessions. The students have been using an innovative landscaping programme, called ‘Gardena’, which allows the students to use Computer Aided Design in order to redesign our local ‘Elster Creek’. This has been well received by the Port Phillip Eco Centre and they are extremely happy with the students efforts.
