World Environment Day

St Columba’s celebrated and raised awareness on Wednesday 5th June for World Environment Day. This year the theme for the day was, Beat Air Pollution. There are many contributors to pollution of our precious air and it is our job to reduce our impacts on the environment to keep our air clean and safe! We began our day by riding, scooting, walking or taking public transport to school, with nearly 100 students and teachers participating. Aiming to reduce our waste, we made our very own beeswax wraps which can be used over and over again to wrap food items! We can’t wait to use them at school and home in our lunchboxes! Lots of classes also undertook a litter collection. The preps tackled the school yard, with the 1/2s and 5/6s soon to take on the local streets and canal. The 3/4 Eco warriors ventured over to Elsternwick Park for a session with an educator from the Eco centre to conduct bird surveys and research for their ongoing projects. Here are some highlights from the day.
