A Message from the School Council President

Hi Everyone,

It feels like my last update was such a long time ago now, but there have been plenty of activity by council happening in the background. We recently met (Thursday 15th August), shared a few updates and voted on the next big fundraising project.

Next Fundraising Project

The Building & Grounds Committee met prior to Council and proposed a list of what we could be fundraising for over the next few years. Council concluded that we would focus on upgrading the staff and student toilets. Staff receive feedback from students regarding the state of the toilets. It’s important that student and staff welfare is looked after, therefore we will be looking to raise funds (through fundraising and Grants – see below) to deliver better facilities.

Grants

There have been some Grants recently released that we feel the school could benefit from. We are applying for grants to help a few areas of focus for the school. This is a lengthy process and consumes a fair bit of individual council time in order to make a submission, so thanks to all the members who are making this happen. All the grants have different deadlines, so as soon as we have feedback on our applications, we will make an announcement.

Fete 2020

It’s with great excitement that I get to announce that School Council have approved a School Fete for 2020! We had to work a little harder to secure the Oval for the date we wanted, but we got there thanks to Dr. Mathew Stewart. The fete last year (2018) was an absolute success and well received across our school and surrounding community (regardless of the downpour). More details will follow through Parents & Friends as the event takes shape.

There is a separate Fete Planning Committee who will be meeting monthly up until Christmas. If you

would like to get involved with helping shape what our 2020 fete will look like, we are meeting on

Monday 2nd September. Let’s create a bigger, better (and drier) fete than 2017!

If you have anything you wish to contact me about (please note the role School Council doesn’t address the operational aspect of the school), please email me on:

Until May,
