Vale Tony Henderson

The Greensborough College Community is saddened by the news of the passing of past staff member Tony Henderson on 28 January 2021. Tony taught Mathematics and Science at the College from 2007 until his retirement in 2014. Tony’s association with Greensbough College is a long one having topped the state in Year 12 HSC Biology as a student of Watsonia High School one of the two founding schools of the College.  After completing a degree in Science at Latrobe University he began his teaching career at Lalor Technical School. He completed his Masters degree whilst teaching full time and later taught at Kingsbury Technical School and Reservoir District Secondary College before his final 7 years serving the Greensbough College Community.

Tony is remembered as an outstanding teacher. His calm and respectful manner was appreciated by his students and his colleagues. He was hard working always ready to take on extra duties to contribute to the wider benefit of the school and his students. He was a quiet and humble person whose low key, layback approach to life never the less showed a genuine approach to helping others at every opportunity. A major contribution to Greensborough College was his leadership as President of the Barjarj School Camps Cooperative and his tireless work of over 30 years to provide a high quality, low cost, camp experience for students of the college.

Tony will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife Marie, his parents Joan and Robert, his brother Ian and his children Erin, Katelyn, Michaela and Kim and his grandchildren Liesel and Jobe.

A life well lived.

John Conway,

Former Principal at Greensborough College
