Mr Irwin's Message

Mr Irwin's Message

Hi Families,

It was fantastic to see everyone back at school after the 5 day lockdown and settle quickly back into routine. I want to thank our teachers for the way they sprung into action over the weekend to prepare for the lockdown and to families who were supportive of the action and managed in the best way possible at home.

This week we wanted to focus on seeking family input into the way we provide feedback about student learning. This is an area of last year’s parent survey that wasn’t as high overall as other aspects on the survey.

Because of this we wanted to dig a bit deeper into this area and provide the opportunity for further input on this subject.

Getting this feedback is important and can help the direction we take with providing feedback and updates to parents on learning progress.

In the newsletter message I’ve provided a link below which provides the opportunity for parents to provide feedback.

Ask Mr Irwin

A number of questions I’ve received through Ask Mr Irwin have been around the opportunity to Parent Help and Volunteer in the school.

Getting assistance from parents in a school comes in many forms including classroom help, kitchen garden help, donations when asked for and even formal roles such as School Council and Parents and Friends Association.

For those interested in being a classroom helper Mr Lindsay and I will be running an information session about this on Monday 15th of March at 9:00am. For parents wanting to help out in classrooms this is a requirement before being able to do so. This ensures that parents helping in class are understanding of their role, the expectations we have of them and that the program is productive and supports student learning. If you are interested in attending this session can you please contact the office to RSVP.

Throughout the year other opportunities will be advertised where we need parent support. If you’re interested in helping out you’ll be able to respond to these as they pop up. This might include Sports Days Excursions, Camps and Working Bees so keep a lookout in the newsletter for these opportunities.

Bye for now!

Masks at School

A reminder to families masks are now required indoors in all public spaces and outside where you can't socially distance. This includes here at school. Please limit entering school buildings unless absolutely essential. As always we really appreciate your support and co-operation!
