From the Principal

Term 1, Week 4, Kevin Kennedy

Dear Families,

Acquaintance Night

I would like to thank all the thank everyone who took the time to visit the school on Acquaintance Night. The staff were very pleased to have parents back in the classrooms and valued the opportunity to have some face to face discussions about teaching and learning.  Many of the people I spoke to appreciated the opportunity to meet with teachers, hear about their plans for the year and to see what their child’s learning space looked like.

We will be having parent/teacher interviews later this term. This will be another opportunity for parents  to get in the school and work with the teacher to support student learning.

Governing Council

We have several new Governing Council members this year. I would like to welcome Salome McDonald, Belinda Warnes and Elizabeth Farrow to the team. Myself and the other Governing Council members are looking forward to working with you.

As we welcome the  new members we are  also farewelling some stalwarts of the Governing Council. I’d like to thank Adam Livingston, Jasmine Lewis, Rebecca Nicoll, Anna Mazel and Jo Ness for giving up their time to support the school. Your input and suggestions were greatly appreciated. I would like to give a special mention to Jo Ness, who has worked on Governing Council for the last eight years.  Despite an incredibly busy life Jo was able to contribute actively to the school and has made it a better place. She was the driving force behind the schools obstacle course development and also designed the 50th anniversary logo. On behalf of the staff and students at West Beach Primary, thank you Jo.

Have a nice weekend and enjoy some cooler weather. If you have any queries or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Kind regards,

Kevin Kennedy
