Screen-free day/Den bez obrazovky

Year 2/2. ročník

On screen-free day Ms Beard’s Y2 English class were asked to create a picture based on a poem or write a poem based on a wintery picture.

V rámci dne bez obrazovek byli studenti 2. ročníku v hodině anglického jazyka s paní Beard požádáni, aby nakreslili obrázek podle básně nebo naopak napsali báseň podle obrázku se zimní tématikou.

Crossing our railways again

I am walking in the snowflakes dance, 

While this magical blue train passes. 

I caught a face, a boy’s face.

Black hair, green eyes and a beautiful smile.

He just smiled at me. I am wearing a pink jacket.

Am I dreaming or not? Am I a cause of fun?

No, I am in daydream. It is a stranger.

I started to run to see him again.

Stop, girl, stop. You will never catch the train.

I stop. This run was totally nonsense.

Trains are faster than people 

And the road was slippery. 

I really tried, but maybe it wasn't our fate.

Maybe in future we will cross our railways again.

For a long bit next time please. 

I would ask if you laugh at me.

I would learn more about you and you about me.

My goal would be not to call each other strangers.

And your’s would be to know I hate pink. 

The light of the night

Year 3/3. ročník

Year 3 Ignis students reflected on a screen-free school day, which we had before the half-term break:/Studenti 3. ročníku z koleje Ignis vypracovali reflexe na školní den bez obrazovky, který se uskutečnil před jarními prázdninami:

I personally really liked the screen-free day. It offered a break from the day to day schedule and obviously from electronics, which was very appreciated when I'm spending a large part of my day on online school, 5 days a week. 

I think it would be really good if we had one of these screen free days once a week, or once every two weeks. Because beyond having a day without electronics, on this day, we can also do the work on our own schedule. Like a part of the work in the morning and part in the afternoon for example. Overall I think it was and would be very beneficial to repeat this.

Mně osobně se den bez obrazovky velmi líbil. Umožnil pauzu od každodenního rozvrhu a samozřejmě od elektroniky, což jsem velmi ocenila, jelikož trávím velkou část svého dne při online výuce pět dní v týdnu.

Domnívám se, že by bylo opravdu dobré, kdybychom měli jeden den bez obrazovky každá týden nebo každé dva týdny. Takový den by byl nejem časem bez elektroniky, ale také dnem, kdy bychom mohli pracovat podle svého vlastního plánu a rozvržení úkolů. Mohli bychom například udělat část práce ráno a zbytek odpoledne. Celkově si myslím, že to bylo velmi užitečné a bylo by skvělé si to zopakovat.

The screen-free day was very nice. I could wake up later and do the work when I wanted. It was quite hard because I did not expect the teachers to give us that much work. I think most of the students could really benefit from the screen-free day because it teaches us better time management. I preferred it to the normal online school day because I could take breaks whenever I needed and do the work at my pace.

Den bez obrazovky byl velmi příjemný. Mohla jsem se probudit později a udělat práci, kdykoli během dne. Bylo to docela náročné, protože jsem nečekala, že nám učitelé zadají tolik práce. Myslím si, že většina studentů mohla den bez obrazovky dobře využít k tomu, aby se naučili lepšímu řízení svého času. Upřednostňuji to před běžným online školním dnem, protože jsem si mohla dělat přestávky, kdykoli jsem potřebovala, a mohla jsem pracovat svým tempem.

I found the screen-free Thursday very enjoyable. I felt more relaxed and less stressed than during a normal online school day. The work that day was mostly worksheets and writing an essay which was quite practical. For me personally, having the whole day to complete an assignment rather than having a 35/70 minute time limit took the pressure off me. I was able to go on a walk in the morning and spend time out in the snow and then in the afternoon I did my work. All in all, the screen-free day worked well for me and I hope there are more to come in the future. 

Čtvrtek bez obrazovky mi připadal velmi příjemný. Cítila jsem se uvolněnější a méně ve stresu než během běžného online školního dne. Úkoly zahrnovaly hlavně pracovní listy a psaní esejí, což bylo docela praktické. Práci jsme si mohli rozložit, a proto jsem osobně necítila takový tlak na dokončení úkolů, jako když mám jen časový limit 35 nebo 70 minut. Ráno jsem mohla jít na procházku a užít si sněhu a odpoledne jsem věnovala práci do školy. Celkově den bez obrazovky fungoval dobře a doufám, že v budoucnu budou další.

During the screen-free day that we had last week on Thursday, I was able to take my own pace and use up the right amount of time for me to finish my work - I didn’t feel rushed. I also liked the fact that there were no meets/calls to join since it can be pretty draining once you start doing that for each lesson every day. I think I just felt more at ease in general throughout the day. 

My experience with the screen-free day was overall a good one, and I do think that we should do it more often just for the sake of teachers and students to get away from the computer, even if it’s just for a day.

Během dne bez obrazovky, který jsme měli minulý týden ve čtvrtek, jsem mohla pracovat svým vlastním tempem a rozložit si čas potřebný na dokončení práce - necítila jsem spěch. Také se mi líbilo, že se neuskutečnily žádné online schůzky, protože to je někdy docela vyčerpávající, pokud se to děje na začátku každé hodiny každý den. Připadá mi, že jsem se celkově po celý den cítila více v pohodě.

Moje zkušenost s dnem bez obrazovky byla celkově dobrá a myslím si, že by se takové dny mohly konat častěji, už kvůli učitelům a studentům, aby si mohli odpočinout od počítače, i když je to jen na den.

I personally liked the screen free day because I felt that we were given less work. I pretty much had to do two written tasks, however, they had to be handwritten, which took a bit more time. Still, they didn’t take up the whole lesson, so I had more free time than usual. On the other hand, I didn’t think this concept would be good for delivery of new topics.

Osobně se mi den bez obrazovky líbil, protože mi připadalo, že jsme měli méně práce. Musela jsem udělat dva písemné úkoly, které však musely být psány rukou, což zabralo trochu více času. Přesto jsem měla více volného času než obvykle. Na druhou stranu si nemyslím, že by to byl vhodný koncept pro výuku nové látky.

I spent way more time on doing tasks than during the normal lessons and I had to check work assignments on the screen. I'd rather call it "an independent work day", not a screen-free day.

Strávila jsem mnohem víc času prací na úkolech než při běžné výuce. Během dne jsem musela kontrolovat zadání práce na obrazovce. Raději bych tento den nazvala „den nezávislé práce“, nikoli den bez obrazovky.

It would be an improvement if we were told to print out the work the day before and have a deadline for all the work at 10:00pm so students wouldn't have to check when work is due on their computer.

Vylepšením tohoto dne by bylo, kdybychom si mohli den předem vytisknout práci a měli bychom termín pro odevzdání všech úkolů v deset večer, aby studenti nemuseli neustále termíny kontrolovat v počítači.
