Year 12 Academic Check-ins

Over the past few weeks, each Year 12 ATAR eligible student has met with either myself or Ms Jen Smeed, Senior Learning Leader, for academic check-ins. These short meetings entailed reflecting on Unit 1 and 2 results, receiving ATAR estimation ranges and looking at areas of improvement moving forward. The next block of Academic Interviews for all Year 12 Students will be held late in Term 2.

Year 12 Exam block

With Exam Block commencing next week, a reminder to all parents that if boys have any outstanding assessment or competencies, their son will not be granted exam block privileges and will be required to remain at school across normal school hours in order to complete required work. Please check with your son that he is up-to-date with all assessment. Parents of students who need to remain at school will be contacted later this week.

Senior Academic Care Team

If your son in Year 11 or 12 would like to discuss subject changes, academic progress, ATAR or other academic matters please direct them to the Studies Office before school, at any break or after school, where they will be able to see myself or Ms Smeed.

NAPLAN

This year NAPLAN will be online for Marist College Ashgrove and we will be held in Week 4 of Term 2.  In preparation for these tests, boys in Years 5, 7 and 9 will be completing practice tests during Week 9 of this term.  These practice tests are to ensure that your son is familiar with the NAPLAN process as we move online, alleviating anxiety prior to NAPLAN so that he can perform his best in a known environment.  Please ensure that your son’s computer is charged and functioning in preparation for these practices.  If you are aware of any IT issues that your son is currently having with his device, can you please encourage him to visit IT as soon as possible.

If you have any questions regarding the academic care of your son, please do not hesitate to get in touch with myself, Years 7-10 (rosenbergr@marash.qld.edu.au), Ms Jen Smeed, Years 11-12 (smeedj@marash.qld.edu.au) or Mrs Jenny Little, Years 5-6 (littlej@marash.qld.edu.au).
