Exploring café design

In week 4 of term one, both Year 10 Architectural Design classes had the opportunity to explore cafés around the local area. For CAT 1 we have to design our own café, and so going to see existing cafés was really helpful, for both primary research and inspiration purposes. We walked along and around St Georges Road, popping into different cafés along the way and afterwards we took public transport into the city to see some more designs. We visited a wide variety of cafés, from one still under construction, to one of the oldest in the city. We also spoke to some owners to hear about their first-hand experience. We had lots of fun exploring and getting to know the cafes in the area, and overall it was a very beneficial excursion for all of us.
