Assessment & Feedback Update

Assessment Tasks now on Compass

This year there will be some changes to the ways we report to you about your child’s learning. We will no longer be using myNorthcoteHigh (please note 2021 year 7 students do not use this platform) to communicate with families about assessment tasks such as SACs and CATs. Instead, we will be using Compass. Information for this Semester should be available for most subjects from Monday 2 March.

On Compass you will be able to see:

  • What the Assessment Tasks for each subject are for the Semester
  • The due date of the task (once this is known)
  • Once the task falls due, whether the task has been completed and received by the teacher.
  • Once the task has been assessed, the assessment result.

To locate this information:

  1. From your Home Dashboard, select Profile (Attendance, Schedule, Reports)>Learning Tasks tab
  2. If you have more than one child at Northcote, you may prefer to select the Pencil Icon on your Home Dashboard and then choose Learning Tasks from the menu so that you can see all the tasks together.

On your Dashboard, you will find notifications of when a task is coming up in the next week and alerts about work which has not been submitted.

We will not be providing feedback comments directly to families on myNorthcoteHigh this year. Instead, feedback will be provided on the work, directly to the learner. We will prompt families periodically to have a discussion about feedback that students have received. The first of these prompts will be at the end of Week 7, Friday 12 March 2021 on the same day as our first round of Learning Behaviours Reports are published.
