Supporting teaching and learning with Microsoft Teams

Our vision for digital learning involves having systems that support staff and students to develop as confident, innovative and productive digital citizens, who access technology in a manner that enables them to engage in teaching and learning in new and creative ways. As part of our digital learning strategy, we are transitioning from myNorthcoteHigh to Microsoft Teams and the O365 Suite.

All students in Year 7 have been activated onto our new system, they have access to a class team for every subject and a collaborative class notebook. Our teachers are learning to use the system alongside their students and are receiving some targeted professional learning in the next few weeks. Each year 7 class will also have a nominated IT Squad member who will receive some training on the system and can support their peers.

The rest of the school will gain access to Teams next term and all teachers will begin learning alongside their students. This will happen slowly while our teachers and students build their confidence with the new platform. By next semester, we expect that all new teaching and learning resources will be delivered to students using the Teams platform.

Year 8-12 students will have read access to myNorthcoteHigh until the end of the year and the system will be disabled at the end of the 2021 school year.
