Welcome new staff : Part 3

Joining our community

Meet more of the staff who are joining our community this year. We are delighted to be able to introduce you to new and returning colleagues, who bring a diverse range of experiences with them.

Jerome Holleman

Jerome Holleman is resuming his role as head of Middle School in 2021 having spent 2020 in Tasmania with his wife who was completing a year of her specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. While in Tassie Jerome worked as a Training and Leadership Advisor for Teach for Australia – coaching 1st and 2nd year teachers in remote schools in the North West region. In his time away he also completed a master’s thesis on Restorative Practice and is looking forward to bringing new insights from his learning back to NHS.

Jerome teaches English, English as an Additional Language and Humanities and is passionate about student voice and agency. In 2019 Jerome led a review of the year 10 Connect Program with feedback and direction from year 10 Class Representatives; worked closely with the Careers Counsellor to launch Northcote’s year 10 students’ participation in the Real Industry Job Interviews Program; helped coordinate City School, the NT Trip, Course Confirmation and the myriad of other events on the Middle School calendar. In his spare time Jerome loves hiking, skateboarding and playing the drums.

Heath Thompson

I have been teaching Humanities and English at Northcote High School since 2016. Prior to teaching I worked in the not-for-profit sector and spent some time living in the UK and East Timor.

My partner Michelle and I have two children Emily (3) and Patrick (1) at home. I spent 2020 looking after both of them, which kept me busy.

I am looking forward to being back in the classroom in 2021. I hope that I can quickly adapt to the new school environment and teaching practices that have developed this year.
