Student Services : Careers

It’s hard to believe that we already marching through the second half of Term 1 – the year is flying by, and we have achieved so much already.

I have been catching up with many of the Class of 2020 over the past few weeks to touch base and check on their transition.  With classes for university getting into full swing this week I would like to wish all of our alumni who are embarking on their next step the very best of luck.  I know that you will achieve some wonderful things and change the world during your career journey.  Enjoy this next chapter!

UCAT registrations open – Final reminder for current Y12s

UCAT registrations for 2021 have opened. Students who are planning to do the UCAT in 2021 for entry in 2022 to Medical or Dentistry courses, should register and book their date and venue for testing. For more information head to https://www.ucat.edu.au/

ICanMed have compiled a quick guide to 2021 UCAT registrations that includes the full instructions (with links), as well as advice/recommendations based on the experiences of students in past years. This is the link to the guide:https://www.icanmed.com.au/complete-guide-ucat-2021-registration/

Year 10 work experience

We are still hoping to provide Year 10 students with an opportunity to spend a week in the workplace from 17-21 May.  Students should be proactively working towards finding a placement for that week.

Arranging Work Experience will be the focus in Connect classes this term, as well as completing the Occupational Health and Safety certifications.  The first deadline to secure your placement, and complete the arrangement form – including getting it signed by your employer – is the end of term one. The reason for this is to not only allow time for all the paperwork to be processed and sent to employers, but also to give students the best chance of finding a placement of their choice.

myNorthcoteHigh has a plethora of information to guide and assist students through the process of finding a placement, and completing the paperwork.  Simply go to Careers and click on the Work Experience tab.  Students should work with their Connect Tutor to move through the process, or make an appointment to chat with me if they require extra assistance.
