ST JAMES SPORT 2016

Congratulations to all students who represented St James in sport this year.  Our sporting teams have had a great year and I would like to congratulate every single student who participated in the St James sport program in 2016.

I am continually impressed to see how many St James students are keen to train and represent the school in sport, making the most of the many opportunities available to them.

St James has 146 students in Years 3-6 and most students represented the school in one or more sports on offer.

Cross Country - Year 3-6: 83 students

Athletics - Year 3-6: 73 students

Swimming - Years 3-6: 30 students

Soccer - Year 4-6: 53 students

Basketball - Year 3-6: 105 students

Cricket - Years 3-6: 107 students

Netball and football - Yrs 5-6: All students

Our sporting teams have had a lot of success in 2016 with many individual students and teams qualifying to compete at Beachside and Division level.   Our girls Soccer team was very successful, making it all the way to the State finals.  It has been great to have one of our Year 6 students, Ellen W, selected in the SSV Team Vic U12 Girls Cricket team.  We wish Ellen all the best in the national tournament to be held in Canberra in January 2017.

I would like to thank our fabulous parents and staff for their assistance with the sports program throughout the year as coaches, team managers and sport carnival helpers.  The opportunities available to our students would not be possible without your continued support.

Thank you and all the best in 2017!
