Principal's Report

Working Bee

I would like to start off with a huge thank you to the families who were able to attend our working bee over the weekend. It was great to see roughly 30 people here for the few hours it took to transform the gardens at the front of the school and around our veggie patch. Our goal was to improve the front entrance to our administration building, this being the first piece of work in updating our outdoor spaces and playgrounds. While there a few art pieces to be installed in the coming weeks, I think everyone will agree that it is a more inviting first impression to our school. A big thank you to Tanya Haynes-Ford and Nathan Ray who organised our working bee and who have been making plans for the past few weeks.

One of our goals for our grounds improvement is to hold one working bee per term and to improve one particular area of the school each time. We hope that this will allow all families to attend at least one working bee each year (more if they are keen) and build our sense of community through being able to come together to improve our school.

Colour Run

It was great to see so many happy, smiling and very multicoloured students at our Colour Run on Friday afternoon. Postponing the event by a week due to weather paid off as even though there was a short shower at one point, the event went off without a hitch.  A great afternoon of fun and fitness that was able to raise additional funds for our playground renewal.

A massive thank you to Kirsten Murrihy for coordinating our event again this year. Kirsten puts a lot of time and effort into arranging the run, supported by a wonderful group of families.

Assembly

Our assembly this week has needed to change to Thursday morning. This is to enable Tim Richardson, Parliamentary Secretary for Schools and Jackson Taylor MP to attend and also view our application and plans for our Sensory Garden and Passive Playspace. It would be wonderful to see as many families at this assembly to show what a wonderful community we have at Marlborough who supports this application.

Dental Van

Next week we have the Dental Van visiting school. All forms should have been returned to school by now. If not, they are still able to be dropped off to the office. The van will be located in the school car park.

2020 Staff

Our staffing profile for the 2020 school year is now complete. We have a wonderful staff who are dedicated to the wellbeing and academic success of each student. I am pleased to be able to share our whole 2020 staffing list with our community. We are welcoming Amber Kim, Elise Heeger and Nicole Robb to our Educational Support Staff team. We will be farewelling Aleisha Carrol, Marg Smith and Adriana de Napoli at the end of this year who have each provided support to students with additional needs and are each moving on to new opportunities in 2020. I will write more about our departing staff in an upcoming edition of our newsletter.
