Winton Fundraising

Term 3 marked the time in which we held our Winton fundraising day! The day was filled with laughs, smiles and an absolute mess of fairy floss. In order to raise funds for Timor Leste, we set charge to not only raise awareness of the social justice issues surrounding our school community but also to encourage staff and students to donate a few spare gold coins in exchange for a yummy treat. The Winton leadership team as well as a few very generous helpers sold hot chips and fairy floss while Winton students performed on the green. The overall mood of the day was slightly stressful (as we had no idea how to use a fairy floss machine) but after the initial struggles a very respectful and creative environment! The atmosphere generated was positive and warm, students patiently waiting in line and understanding the situation in which we were all in. Additionally, the Winton clothing drive was run for St. Vincent’s in which received an overwhelmingly positive and heart warming response as all clusters worked together to produce articles of clothing fit for those less fortunate than us leading up to the Christmas period. Overall, Winton has had a great year in terms of social justice and let’s keep this momentum for the following years to come!

Winton Social Justice Iniative 2017

As many of you may be aware, Term 3 is the sections of the year in which we turn to members of our community who need our compassion and love the most. In supporting the social justice initiative to help those in Timor Leste, Winton set up a “Winton Chips” day to raise as much money as possible for those overseas.

The support of the college and students was overwhelming, with many contributing and taking part.

thank you to everyone who assisted in supervising, preparing and selling the chips, your participation was fundamental to the success of the day and is greatly appreciated!

Winton also spent the term collecting clothes, shoes and other items for St. Vincent de Paul alongside selling fairy floss and a holding raffle. Thank you to the amazing performers and those who helped to spin fairy floss!

The donations we received from each cluster were astounding, with many containers overflowing with clothes! All funds collected from selling the fairy floss will go towards those who need it the most!

It is crucial that we, as a Catholic Regional College, use our time, resources and skills effectively when helping and reaching out to various members of our local and outer community. If it weren’t for the efforts of the students, teachers and staff, what we have achieved this year would not have been possible or even imaginable. Once again i would like to thank every single person who took part or supported the causes Winton has put forward this year, without your contribution, everything we have achieved this year would not have been possible!
