Year 12 English

Shrine of Remembrance

It was a cold a windy early morning start to the day for 70 Year 12 students who ventured up to the Shrine of Remembrance on Friday 15th June.

They were given a tour of the World War 1 exhibition and immersed into the life of many indigenous First World War soldiers - the 'Black Diggers' who fought during this, and many other wars, but  who were largely unrecorded and unrecognised during WW1.

Students were emotionally moved by the exhibits and came away with a better appreciation of the sacrifices so many made and an increased understanding of the cost of war .

This is the theme that they will be exploring further in their upcoming English comparative texts.
