ArtVo
What does Ms Bonham’s photography class get up to? As a matter of fact, we get up too many things, such as practical work, taking pictures of interest, and learning of techniques and different types of imagery. Last week the Year 9 Photography class took a trip to the city, to a place called ArtVO. Where we discovered the magic of perspective shots.
Now what is a perspective shot? Well its quite hard to explain so here’s an example, from a certain angle or a certain distance you can take a picture, where it looks like you are taller than a skyscraper, this is due to the fact that the person in the picture is much closer to the lens so when the image is taken it gives the end result mentioned before. At ArtVO there were paintings and beautiful imagery where individuals could stand, and it would look like you’re in the image or painting. For example, my group came across a painting where if you laid on the ground, it looked like you were falling through the ground.
Many pictures were taken, and much fun was had. Then we set off to take perspective shots around Docklands. Near the Melbourne Eye there was an oversized ice-cream cone, with much effort, I created a masterpiece that would impress the great photographer that was Ms Bonham.
Anyway, thank you for reading this article, hopefully this has intrigued your perspective eye and I highly recommend partaking in photography of some sort and of course going to ArtVo.

Attention All Students Interested in Medicine & Health
During term 1, two hundred Food Technology and Food Studies students participated in an incursion at Nossal High school and Federation University. Former Monash University, Vice Chancellor and Monash Dean of Medicine, Mr Leon Piterman was our honoured guest speaker. Mr Piterman focused his lecture on The Obesity Epidemic and discussed many diet related diseases that could be prevented through good nutrition and educational practices. Many GP’s are now focusing on health and nutrition as the statistics have shown that the number one health concern in Australia will be heart disease and obesity, by the year 2020.
The purpose of this lecture was for students to understand the new Food Studies study design and have a rich understanding how this could be beneficial to their course pathways if they are interested in medicine or the health sector. Mr Leon Piterman highly recommends students consider all their course options and choose courses that they will enjoy and that will relate to their future course. Mr Piterman also said “Most University courses are now requiring students to complete an entry interview, this is where they want students to show knowledge of nutrition and how food is digested and what role this plays on the human body. This course will give our students a rich breadth of knowledge moving forward”.
Food Studies Unit 1 -4 provides students with the knowledge to apply principles of nutrition, food science, diet related diseases, sensory evaluations, meal planning and preparation. Mr Leon Piterman discussed how many students studying medicine now include food studies in their course as this provides key knowledge and skills that show how nutrition plays an integral role in diet related diseases.
