Intermediate Boys Cricket - Southern Metropolitan Region

On Wednesday 17 October, Nossal’s Intermediate Boys Cricket Team faced off in a battle against Parkdale SC at Bentleigh SC. The boys were full of confidence with a very strong team taking the field. After winning the toss and electing to field, Parkdale got off to a flying start with two very strong batters hitting regular boundaries. Parkdale rode their luck with a missed umpiring decision and not taking several run-out chances.

They pushed along at more than 10 runs an over until Kevin N turned the contest around taking 2-9 off 3 overs. An inspiring spell, however, it did not stop the runs flowing during the other overs. Parkdale reached an imposing total of 5/163 from their allocated 20 overs. In reply, due to need for runs, the batters took excessive risks and were subsequently bowled or caught out playing aggressively. After a horrible run-out of our captain Shishir K who was looking right on top, the game was slipping away. At 6/70 off 11 overs the game was nearly out of reach. What followed was a rear-guard response by Daniel C and Ben M to lift us closer to the total. Our score reached 9/147 from 20 overs, resulting in a 16-run loss.

The boys stayed in the game and battled hard, but ultimately feel short. I would like to thank the boys for the efforts in training and during events as they represented the school very proudly with behaviour and performance.
