PRAYER/REFLECTION
Next week, 18- 24th June is National Refugee Week.
Freedom
Lord, I pray for your gift of freedom.
May your Holy Spirit guide those in power to work for
equality for all your people.
PHOTOS
Individual and group photos will take place next Friday 15th June and students should ensure their shoes, blazers, socks, uniform, haircuts and grooming generally are in good order on Friday. The boys were asked to purchase blazer buttons from the uniform shop today so some needle and thread work would assist. There is no need for sporting gear. The boys have been given an order form which they need to return on Friday and submit to the photographer. The form is also available below.
ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
Considering the weather last week, we were very fortunate to complete the carnival with the exception of high jump which will be run at school on the next two Fridays (U/10 and 11 this week and U/12 next week). Interested boys need to bring at least their runners. Unfortunately novelty events couldn’t proceed on the day. The carnival was a fun day where all the boys participated with enthusiasm and barracked for their teams.
Unfortunately we can’t announce age champions and the winning house until after the high jumps are completed.
Thank you to the hearty band of parents who assisted on the day and those who came to support. The teachers and Year 11 boys were fantastic and, with the cooperation of the boys, a great day was had by all. The finish of the last relay was a great way to finish the carnival with P.J Marren crossing the finishing line first for Treacy House. Now it remains to be seen which House has won the carnival.

IPSHA Junior Debating News: Round 3 of the IPSHA competition was hosted by St Pius X College last Friday 8th June against Abbotsleigh Junior School. The debate was on a challenging topic: “That parents should give their children mobile phones.”
Congratulations to both teams on their efforts as they worked very well together as a team considering the time restraints with other commitments during the week. They presented very convincing, well formulated arguments and the adjudicator particularly commented on their skillful manner and delivery of their speeches.
The next debate is scheduled for Friday 22nd June when we will travel to St Luke’s Grammar School at Dee Why .

Round 6: Team A have a BYE and Teams B, C and D will be at HOME this week. Please check the draw for further details.

Thursday Sport: at Oxford Falls with a combined Dance/Sport focus. Students will do a session of each. Winter training gear for Rugby, Football and AFL is therefore required. Note the early departure and need for a packed lunch for the next 2 Thursdays.
Dance: Our Dance program continues this week and is integrated with our Thursday sport program of winter training. Please note the amendments to travel times in the table above. On the early departure days, boys will require a packed lunch. The cost of the 4 week program is $30 and will be charged to Term 3 Fees. Parents are warmly invited to attend from 12.45pm on Thursday 28th June for our Final Performance. Afternoon Tea will be served from 1.30pm.
Athletics Carnival: Unfortunately we were again met by stormy weather on our Annual House Carnival. Despite this, our students did a great job competing in the adapted program. I sincerely thanks the parental supporters who braved the wintery weather, particularly those who generously assisted in the running of the Carnival. This week we will begin our high jump selections at school (this Friday lunchtime for U10/11 students and then the following Friday for U12’s ). Upon completion of the final events we will announce our Age Champions, Athletics Squad and overall House Champions for 2018.
