Jazz Festival

A number of Dromana’s senior music students were fortunate enough to travel to Mt Gambier to perform in ‘Generations in Jazz’, a high school jazz festival that included over 5000 students from around Australia. Conducted by brass teacher Mr Joe Tobias, they have been rehearsing fortnightly in a combined band with Mornington Secondary College since the beginning of the year and performed in this ensemble during the festival weekend. The students also had the opportunity to attend workshops with professional musicians and experience performances by a number of incredible musicians from around the world, including Australia’s own Cat Empire! Despite an 8 hour bus ride there and back, the students were full of energy for a wonderful weekend full of jazz! Congratulations to Oscar Wycisk, David Brackenridge, Maizy Garwood, Harrison Salmon and Bailey Isbister on their commitment to the rehearsals in the lead up to the festival and fantastic performance.
