Year 7 Transition and Camp

Starting Year 7

Overview of camp:

On the 10th of Feb, the Year 7s left for their transition camp at Camp Rumbug. After arriving on our first day and settling into our cabins, we were sorted into our activity groups, who we did most of our activities with. Since lots of people didn’t know each other, camp was a great way to meet more people and make new friends. Everyone participated in different activities together like the mud run, canoeing, the zipline, sensory trails, and many more activities for people to participate and form new friendships in. After these you would go back to your cabins and relax for a bit until your next meal. All the food was delicious and after dinner you would do a game with your dinner group, such as watching a movie, playing trivia, or doing a treasure hunt. On Feb 13th we left, but everyone had a great time, and got a lot out of camp!

Highlights so far:

Transitioning to secondary school has certainly been a challenge, but it has given us so many opportunities such as letting us explore new subjects, join fun clubs and make new friends. I'm sure that we all have started settling in to our new school environment. So far, we have enjoyed meeting new people in joint lessons, playing instruments in the music program and spending a wonderful day of swimming together on Tuesday for the Swimming Carnival. As someone in the music program, I have thoroughly enjoyed learning instruments in small groups with people I might not have met otherwise. I speak on behalf of every Year 7 when I say that we have enjoyed our start of high school experience.
