Sports Report
Well, what an action-packed term of sport! The swimming season was once again successful with our close second at the GD Carnival and some of our best ever results at ICCES. The athletics season has started well with solid GD results and we will continue to train hard for ICCES in May. The rowing, cricket, tennis and netball summer seasons have all concluded and thanks go to all the students who participated, staff in charge and all the volunteer coaches, managers and general helpers for all sports. The junior cricket team’s domination of the HDJCA, winning both Under 14 and 16 grand finals, A grade women’s team premiership and outstanding rowing performances across the board were all highlights. We offer a huge sporting program for a school our size - thank you to the many people that give their time to make this happen.
Next term, we have the basketball season continuing and the commencement of our cross country, soccer, football, table tennis and hockey seasons. Of course, the ICCES Winter Tour in Shepparton during the last two days of term will be a highlight for many of our senior students. Bring it on!
Football
The HKJFA will begin with the first round of the season for our teams on Sunday 28 April at Silvester Oval in Coleraine and training will re-commence on the Wednesday before this game at the College Senior School Oval. Subs are to be paid online when registering and thanks to those who have already done so. Year 9 parents should make sure it is done while your child is in China as they will have a game on Sunday 28 April, just a few days after they get back.
No player will be allowed to take the field until they are registered online and paid the fees.
Please have a look at the information on the HKJFA Facebook page or go to this kangaroos website link –

Team App
These have been set up for many of our sporting teams and are a great way to get instant notifications and messages on their smartphones or iPad. Players and/or parents should get an email from the Head of Sport or Coach setting them up and then you request to join. For more information, you can download “Team App” in the app stores or go to www.teamapp.com and start searching for “College” teams.

Basketball
Congratulations to Austin Mayfield, Oscar Hausler and Nick Hoskyns who have been invited to attend the Basketball Victoria Country Under 14 Boys Academy. This is a twenty week, state wide program that includes attending regular small group skills sessions and two weekend camps. Following this, players can be selected for additional Basketball Victoria events.
Nick and Austin will also be participating in the Under 14 Boys Basketball Championships in Shepparton this weekend. We wish them the best of luck.

Hockey
Information about teams and the latest draw from the Association have been sent to players from the Senior School. All intending players are asked to ensure they have completed the Hockey Victoria registration – advice about this was emailed to all students who had expressed interest in hockey. In addition, please ensure that the permission form has been returned to school before the end of this week (Year 7-12 boys’ forms can be given to Mrs Archer in my absence).
With both Miss Waldron and me away in China, the start of the year had the potential to create some problems; however, for Round One, the Association has kindly scheduled our teams with byes or matches against other College teams where possible.
The only team with a fixed-time game in Round One is the College Blue under 16 team. They play at 6.00pm on Monday 29 April – after the first day of school. Players in this team should ensure they have their gear at school and that they send me a message through Mrs Archer if there is a problem with their availability at that time.
By Round Two (weekend of 4 & 5 May), it should all be working smoothly!
