Myrniong and ELC

A Fabulous 10 Weeks
Term One has been a blur of excitement, activity and achievement. Myrniong has been buzzing with the energy that comes with the start of a new school year. Excellent classroom teaching and learning programmes have engaged our students and set quality work routines for the challenging year ahead. Our Piccolos and Piccinos, in the Early Learning Centre, have enjoyed a stimulating 10 weeks with our excellent staff. Congratulations to Young and Berry Houses on their successes in House Swimming and House Athletics. Young House leads our House Values Cup, with a well-earned 317 points. I wish everybody a restful three week break and look forward to seeing you all in Term Two.
Reggio Inspire Inquiry
Our Term One Reggio inspired Inquiry programme hosted an incursion on Monday from ‘Wild Action - the zoo that comes to you’. The students got to meet a range of Australian native animals including a fresh water crocodile, koala, pigmy possum, wombat and a range of birds and snakes. The provocation ‘What is a living thing?’ has framed the inquiry work for our Prep, Year One, Year Two and Year Three classes . This unit will culminate with a trip to Dunkeld Pastoral Company and the kitchen gardens of the Royal Mail in the first week of Term Two.
Year Five Camp Brownlow
Congratulations to Sophie Whitehead who received the Year Five ‘Camp Brownlow’ award at our Wednesday Assembly. All students, teachers and AusCamp staff voted 3-2-1 for students who pushed their comfort zones, supported others and enjoyed the three days at Cape Bridgewater. Sophie was a worthy winner - well done!

House Cross Country
Family and friends are invited to join us on Monday 6 May for the Junior School House Cross Country. This will be run at Parklands Golf Course. Children will walk across to the golf course at about 11:15am for an 11:30am start. The running course is currently being finalised but will finish near the clubhouse. All children will have had practice runs over at the golf course prior to the event. At the conclusion of all races there will be a sausage sizzle for lunch back at the Junior School. Students should wear their House uniform to school for the day. We cross our fingers for a bright Autumnal day.
We thank the Parklands Golf Club for their generosity in allowing our school to utilise their facilities for this morning.
