Year 10 News

2020 has been a very strange year to say the least!

Despite all the challenges they have faced our Year 10 students have demonstrated their enthusiasm for learning, their resilience and their ability to adapt to every new twist this year brought. In our last week of classes we held our (socially distanced) Final Assembly. It was a testament to the adaptability and perseverance of our cohort that so many of our students received awards for Academic Achievement, Personal Growth and Attendance at this assembly. Also pleasing to note was the number of nominations from staff recognising students who have demonstrated the College values of Community, Ownership and Growth. Mr Lojanica and myself were very proud to be handing out these awards. In addition, each year McClelland College is fortunate to have the support of many external organisations that allows us to recognise achievements of individual students and support them as they move into senior school and beyond. 2020 was no different and we congratulate the following

students:

  • Monash Scholars – Sanjana Ajjampur
  • Melbourne University Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholar – Aaron Stevenson
  • Australian Business and Community Network Scholarship – Al Davies
  • Australian Defence Force Future Thinkers – Alex Gardner
  • Australian Defence Force Lon Tan Leadership Award – Lachlan Daws

Due to the complex challenges raised by remote learning and blended attendance this year, the Year 10 team wished to acknowledge a group of students whose motivation and commitment to their studies was exemplary throughout the entire year. These four students demonstrated positivity and dedication to their studies which, when combined with 100% attendance allowed them to achieve excellent results throughout the whole year. Each of these students was nominated for an Academic Award and/or a Personal Growth Award in every subject they studied, as well as multiple COG Award nominations. Congratulations and well done to:

  • Emily Smith
  • Kathryn Pearson
  • Tim McGuire
  • George Gouvousis

We have thoroughly enjoyed our year with this cohort. We are proud of all they have managed to achieve in a COVID-19 world, and we wish them every success in VCE and VCAL in 2021.

Miss Amanda Pate and Mr Nem Lojanica
