SRC Report

SRC - The year that was!

THE HOPES-  Immersion day, GRIP Leadership Conference, WOW, Leadership Skill building and many and varied student activities!

THE REALITY- Immersion day cut back to a no frills half day of planning for Covid safe

activities. No GRIP leadership conference, no face to face meetings, no WOW, no…, no….and so it went on.

However, the wonderful SRC members rallied and met online in Google ‘Meets’ to plan and deliver what they could. They devised online activities to engage the whole student cohort during ‘International Week. We had a Cultural Quiz, ‘Spot the Difference’, cooking videos demonstrating how to make a range of delicious treats, and more. They catered to a broad range of interests, whilst navigating new technology to make it all happen.

The year 12 students on the SRC wrote several proposals from the ideas generated from the Immersion Day and concerns raised by the Year 11 Student VOICE, including interchangeable Summer and Winter uniform, wearing sports uniform all day, hair colours and piercings, a sports hoodie and repairing the G2 screen. These were presented to the College Council by DJ McFarlane for discussion and further action. Some requests went way beyond what the Council could accept, but the SRC members believed that it was their role to represent the student body without prejudice.

The Free Dress days throughout the year supported causes such as Mental Health, the

bushfire victims and Indigenous literacy.

However, the hardy SRC members who made it through the year were still filled with plans

that they are eager to implement in 2021. Their resilience was amazing! Their ingenuity to be admired! Congratulations to the SRC of 2020.
