From Principal Team

This week I would like to focus on kindness and gratitude.

On Thursday, our Music staff provided the opportunity for our Year P-5 students to listen and learn a little about some instruments.

Andrew engaged our 4's and 5's with an amazing drum demonstration while Matt explored the guitar from soft and mellow through to raucous and loud. Naomi treated us to the pleasure of the ukulele while Charlotte unpacked the flute comparing its parts to humans - feet, body and head and the beautiful sound of the Oboe. Marc entertained Preps with Jingle Bells and others with the stunning sounds of the saxophone. Thank you all.

The Students were a wonderful audience, relished the opportunity to relax and enjoy the sounds of music. Gold coin donations of over $400 will enable us to honour the work of Jayne Barker’s Charity “Good Note Music” and continue her work in creating a pathways using music as the vehicle.

Kindness and compassion were delivered at both campuses today with the abundance of donations to hampers for those in need. Your generosity is welcomed and will make a massive difference to many in our Lakes community.

It is an absolute joy to see the faces of our kids sharing and being respectful and kind. They are an absolute credit to you all.

Finally today we farewelled Chris Beare. The students spoke beautifully about Chris as a person, friend, teacher and inspiration to them and our community. Presenting her with a framed wordle created from the adjective our students use to describe her. She shed a tear or two!

This was followed by a series of stories from Marcus, Warren and Bill from life @ The Lakes from paddock to now.

Inspirational, sparkling eyes and heart, loyal and determined are my words for Ms Beare and the song written for our 10 year tale really do capture the dynamic nature and impact Chris has had on the evolution of our school. In Warren’s words, Chris is where she needs to be now and Education in Victoria will benefit from such a remarkable woman.  We all love you Chris Beare, come visit often, @ The Lakes we are family forever.

Thank you again for your continued support and we are now on countdown with 10 school days to go!

Enjoy

Kerrie, Bill and Marcus
