Prayer

A new school year.  Beginning again.

Fresh faces.  A fresh start.

No matter how many times we go through it,

There will always be something special about this time of year.

Butterflies in stomachs.

Anxious anticipation.

Exciting possibilities.

Students apprehensive about challenges ahead.

Everyone eager to learn.

We offer prayers of thanksgiving for every family.

Prayers for guidance for teachers.

God who watches over us, hear our prayers,

Spoken and silent as we begin the new school year.

Amen.

Caritas

Every year, thousands of schools across Australia participate in Project Compassion.  In the coming weeks your child will be bringing home a project compassion Box. This is a time to help those less fortunate then ourselves. For your information here is a link to the website that gives the background story of this organisation and the excellent work that they do. https://lent.caritas.org.au/students

Shrove Tuesday

Tomorrow children will be celebrating Shrove Tuesday. Throughout the morning the children in their class groups will each receive a pancake to celebrate. Shrove Tuesday, is the traditional feast day before the start of Lent on Ash Wednesday. Photos in the next newsletter.

Ash Wednesday

On Wednesday we will be celebrating Ash Wednesday. Unfortunately due to Covid 19 restrictions only the children in years 3-6 will be attending mass.

The children in K-2 will be having a Liturgy to mark this important day.

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent. Lent is a 40-day season  marked by repentance, fasting, reflection, and ultimately celebration. The 40-day period represents Christ’s time of temptation in the wilderness, where he fasted and where Satan tempted him.
