Year 7

For there is still a vision for the appointed time;   it speaks of the end, and does not lie.

If it seems to tarry, wait for it;

it will surely come, it will not delay.

Habakkuk 2:3

Each year our College has the great privilege of welcoming a large number of Year 7 students and helping them make the adjustment to secondary school. This year, I am privileged to be their Level Leader, and to support the outstanding team of Year 7 Homeroom Teachers: Sanjini Chandra, Sue Radford, Maria O’Leary, Jacinta Devlin, Fiona Vella, Damian Smith, Madeleine Tabacchiera, Allison Wilding and Wanda Elton. We also have the valued support of Suzanne Grima, our Student Wellbeing Leader for Years 7 to 9, and College Counsellors, Anika O’Connor and Toni Gunn.

As the Old Testament prophet Habbakuk wrote, there is an appointed time, and that time has come for Kilbreda and the Year 7 class of 2021. There are 163 enrolled Year 7 students, and we pray that this appointed time has made them feel welcome, valued and known.

Starting anything new is exciting and exhausting, and starting Year 7 is a giant leap for most starting secondary school. We warmly welcome all Year 7 students and families, particularly our new families to our College community.

SeeHERE to link to a video from Dr Michael Carr-Gregg, outlining some of his top tips for successfully transitioning to secondary school, particularly after the COVID-19 year of 2020.

Dr Carr-Gregg explains how to successfully adjust to change, create new routines, and assist your child by working in partnership with the school.

We look forward to working alongside you and your child, so they may meet their full potential in 2021. I look forward to meeting many more parents in the coming weeks and months.

Important Dates

Over the next few weeks we have some exciting events for our Year 7 students to experience for the first time. The Year 7 Welcome Mass (Thursday 11 February), Year 7 Camp (Monday 15 to Wednesday 17 March), House Swimming Carnival (Monday 22 March) and the many and varied opportunities for College sporting teams, and auditioning for the 2021 College production, Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical

We pray for the journey ahead: that the 2021 Year 7 students will be challenged, affirmed and celebrated in all they do. May God and St Brigid bless their journey.
