Principal's News

Journeying Together in Christ

Welcome

Thank you all for working with staff for the first three days of the week. Last Friday, the announcement for the snap lock down was broadcast. Our director heard of the announcement as we did. There was not a lot of time for anyone to communicate information before people went into the weekend.

We all need to remember that students had been at school for 10 days and our Foundation students for 8 days. This is very different from 2020 where all Years 3-6 had their devices leading into the first lockdown.

On Monday staff revisited their ongoing 'remote learning plans' and added current information. We were ready for this snap lockdown to continue until Friday 26th, but fortunately we were back at school yesterday.

Please see PAM for updates regarding COVID 19 restrictions for our school.

Today's mass to welcome in the 2021 year was beautiful. We were able to put aside the sounds of the building site and celebrate mass with some Year 6 families present.

Fr Joe celebrated mass for the first time in awhile at St. Luke's. We missed out on Ash Wednesday, so Fr Joe and some staff sprinkled ashes for all present. Year 6 received their leadership badges and our Fire Carriers received their badges. We will have the fire carrier ceremony in the near future. Well done Breanna Levesque in leading her first mass as Religious Education Leader.

Communication

PAM- Many families have not logged onto PAM according to our data record. A weekly message appears on Monday, and other links etc during the week. You are notified via SimonEverywhere if any urgent messages appear on PAM.

Medical Forms- there are 50 outstanding medical forms. The form is on PAM and if you have completed this it will not be present.

Emails- Some families have realised that they are not receiving emails. If you have not been receiving weekly emails from your class teacher/unit leaders please contact your child's teacher and the office.

Staffing 2021

Yesterday, I emailed the classes of Jess Johnson and Alisha Exton.

Jess will start maternity leave after Week 1, Term 2. Her last day will be Friday 23rd April. Jacqui Butler will be the replacement for the remainder of the year. The students are familiar with Jacqui and she will join Jess during the first week of term 2.

Sadly, Alisha Exton will be leaving us at the end of Term 1. Her husband has accepted a position in Nowra, NSW. Alisha will be missed by the students and staff. Alisha has loved her short time with us and will certainly savour her remaining time at St. Luke's. We will advertise this position.
