Well-being

Well-being at GGLPS

It is essential that all students in the school feel safe and know that they belong to a supportive and caring environment. Well-being in a broad sense to us incorporates behaviour management, programs to support students socially and emotionally and the development of strategies to act responsibly and aid learning. You are encouraged to discuss these ideas and strategies with your children to reinforce what is happening at school.

Getting Organised

Welcome back to the new school year. A special welcome to those starting at GGLPS for the first time. I wish you every blessing as you settle into our school environment. I hope and pray that your time over the past couple of months was a rewarding time after such a challenging year. We certainly look forward to the new year and what lies ahead.

The start of the year can be a daunting time for some as children navigate possibly a new school, new classrooms, new peers and new teachers. Here at GGLPS, we strive hard to support all our students and focus on the wellbeing of our students. In our school, ‘everyone matters’.

Student resilience and wellbeing are essential for both academic and social development and are optimised by safe, supportive and respectful learning environments. Schools share this responsibility with the whole community.

Not only do confident and resilient children with a capacity for emotional intelligence perform better academically, but these skills can also contribute to their ability to create strong social bonds and supportive communities, and to maintain healthy relationships and responsible lifestyles

Throughout the coming weeks, teachers will be spending a lot of time getting to know the students through many different activities and experiences. A big goal is to nurture the children to feel safe and comfortable in the classroom environment so that they will learn.

The wellbeing journey of our children is a combined effort between home and school and we look forward to riding the ups and downs throughout the year. No doubt there will be challenging times but together we will work through them. Over the coming weeks please encourage and support your child as they settle into their new class. If you ever have any concerns regarding the wellbeing of your child, please don’t hesitate in contacting the school.
