WELCOME BACK TO PHYSICAL EDUCATION IN 2021

The PE team is excited to welcome the school community back to school in 2021. We have a lot planned both inside and outside the curriculum for everyone to enjoy!

A lot has happened since the end of the last school year, the PE Department has a new red court at the back of the gym for students to enjoy in lesson time and lunch & recess, and a new fitness studio which includes a dedicated spin room. Students will be able to access this facility during their PE lessons and throughout some extra-curricular activities that will be running this year.

Keep your eyes on the compass for lunchtime activities and competitions that are running this year. First up is Rock Up Basketball which will be running on Monday and Thursday Lunchtimes on the Multicourts. This is for Year 7s only, and all students in Year 7 are welcome to come along and play some Basketball both competitively and socially.

Watch this space for some dance events taking place soon.

JUNIOR SPORT REPORT

Congratulations to all junior students for a smooth start to the sport education program. Year 8 students showed fabulous resilience during torrential rain with a modified program on their first day of sport.

We hope that is the last of the bad weather for Tuesday and Friday afternoons!

All Year 7 & 8 students have been allocated a sport for this term and this will be reflected on their compass timetable.

Unfortunately, there is NO ability to change sports for this term as we are limited by court sizes / bus sizes, staff student ratios and equipment needs.

We are sure that the students will enjoy the program with new students / new coaches and possibly a new sport at a new venue!

For students in competition sports, the weekly Round Robin program will begin Week 5 on Friday 26 February for Year 8s and for Year 7s competition begins on Week 6 on Tuesday 2 March against our Kingston Division schools - Beaumaris, Mordialloc, Bentleigh, Brighton, Sandringham, Westall and Parkdale.

The social / recreational sports will continue for the duration of the term.

Thank you for supporting the program by ensuring your child has the correct sports uniform including a labelled hat and water bottle for all sessions.

Go McKinnon !
